Generalized crumpling : Structures and scaling in elastic sheets
Abstract
I will discuss some questions that arise out of a study of crumpled
sheets and their higher dimensional generalizations. In particular, I will
discuss the structures that arise in crumpled sheets, and their scaling
properties. I will discuss the open issues in the analysis of this problem
and also talk about how this problem relates to many interesting questions
in diverse fields including Differential geometry, Optimization and the
Calculus of variations, Material science and Gauge Field theories. |
