Math 471 Course Information

Fall 1998

Every week there will be a set of written (theoretical) homework problems taken from the textbook. These problems are to be performed individually. Also, programming exercises will be assigned on a regular basis. These problems are to be solved using Maple and/or Matlab, and may be done in teams of up to 3 members. There will be a bonus for the "best" (most efficient, most creative, most illustrative, etc.) computer assignment. Hour exams are tentatively scheduled as listed above. The final will be comprehensive, and approximately 80% of the problems will be taken from the material covered in the midterms. Make-ups for tests will be given only when authorized in advance by the instructor. Only 90% of the make-up score will count. Late homework will not be accepted.
